MIDO 2026 Eyewear Trend: Eco & Anti-Blue Light Glasses | RUISEN

WENZHOU, China – Chinese eyewear makers secured over $300 million in intended orders at MIDO 2026 in Milan, according to the Wenzhou Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT Zhejiang).

The Wenzhou delegation of 179 manufacturers recorded an 18% year-on-year increase – the strongest Q1 in five years. Over 1,200 exhibitors from 50+ countries attended, with buyer numbers at 95% of pre-pandemic levels.

RUISEN Glasses, a Wenzhou-based manufacturer founded in 2017, tracked buyer feedback from the show and is adapting its products for European and Southeast Asian markets.

Smart Eyewear Gains Traction

Smart glasses were a top trend. A partnership between Hangzhou Huiche Technology and Ouhai Eyewear unveiled an AI-powered smart glass with precision within 0.01mm, securing trial orders of over 50,000 units. RUISEN is upgrading its anti-blue-light lens series in response.

Green Materials Now Required

European buyers now demand sustainability. Frames made from coffee grounds, castor beans, and ocean-recycled plastics drew strong interest from France, Germany, and Nordic countries. RUISEN offers bamboo and wood polarized sunglasses from sustainable materials.

Expanding into Southeast Asia

Chinese exporters are moving into Southeast Asia. The Fengjie eyewear cluster recently shipped 108,000 pairs to Indonesia via a new rail-sea route. RUISEN is using the same corridor to deliver to Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam, and plans to exhibit at the ASEAN Optical Fair in Malaysia in late 2026.

New Market Reality

A CCPIT official said price and speed are no longer enough – buyers now expect technology, sustainability, and local service. RUISEN continues investing in green materials and lens R&D. Global buyers are welcome for factory visits and OEM/ODM partnerships.
